GRAVESEND & Northfleet striker Che Stadhart believes the time is right to leave the club after being shown the door by Fleet boss Andy Ford.

The club’s top scorer this season with 14 goals has not been offered a new contract, although he maintains the decision could be in everyone’s best interests.

He said: “I've got no animosity towards the club whatsoever. Andy Ford brought me to the club and I have really enjoyed the four years I’ve been here. I'm a bit disappointed because the lads are a good bunch but I felt I was getting a bit stale here.

"There were times when I had to motivate myself for games, and that shouldn't be the case. I should always be up for matches.

“I've been here a long time but it’s now time to move on. Towards the end of the season, I tried to concentrate on my football and trying to keep Gravesend in the Conference but now I've got to sort out my future.”

Defender Aaron Barnett and utility man Craig Wilkins also failed to earn new contracts at Gravesend, although the latter has since signed for Dover.

However, Stadhart believes he's still capable of playing for a Conference team and would love the chance to play at Stonebridge Road next year.

He addeed: “It's difficult to imagine how weird it will feel coming to Stonebridge Road with another team, but I hope that that will be the case next season."
