A292 Hythe Road in Ashford to close for emergency gas works

A busy route will be closed for up to 10 days due to emergency gas escape works.

The A292 Hythe Road in Ashford will be shut near Budgens, starting today.

Kent County Council has said “every effort will be made” to make sure residents can reach their homes safely.

The route services key facilities such as Norton Knatchbull secondary school, and the road is shut off at house number 414.

A spokesman for the council said on X: “We give notice that Hythe Road, Ashford will be closed to through traffic, on or after 24th April 2024 for up to 10 days.

“The road will be closed outside No.414. There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.

“This closure is necessary to enable emergency gas escape works to be carried out by SGN.”
