Driver charged with assaulting woman PC

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with an incident in Rochester in the early hours of Sunday morning when a female police officer was allegedly pulled into a suspect car and driven away.

Ezekiel Ojo, from Fidelis Road, Erith, has been charged with assault on a police officer, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and use of motor vehicle without third party insurance.

Police are still trying to find the original driver of the car, who ran away when the car came to a halt in Applecross Road, Rochester.

The officer was then allegedly pulled into the car by another occupant, who was arrested when the car crashed into a tree half a mile away in Churchfields on The Esplanade.

Ezekiel Ojo has appeared before Medway Magistrates Court and remanded in custody. He is due to re-appear before magistrates next Tuesday.
