BRITISH Transport Police have released CCTV images of two men they would like to identify in relation to an ongoing investigation into an incident of serious and violent football-related disorder on a train.

A 24-year-old Charlton Athletic FC supporter suffered a broken nose in the incident. Several other passengers were head butted, punched and verbally abused.

The CCTV images were taken on board a train at Sydenham railway station on Saturday, September 1 this year after passengers and fans travelling to a Charlton's game at Crystal Palace were attacked.

The incident occurred at about 14.20pm and involved a group of up to 40 males who boarded a train when it arrived at Sydenham station and began a series of random attacks on passengers within two carriages of the train.

Earlier this month, BTP and officers from the Metropolitan Police were involved in a series of raids at 17 addresses across Kent, south London and Sussex.

In total 14 men were arrested and charged with violent disorder. The men are due back before Westminster Magistrates Court over three dates in January.

BTP Det Insp Keith Bennett said after trawling through the CCTV footage, police have images of two other males they would like to identify in relation to the incident.

"BTP has been carrying out a thorough investigation into this incident. Officers are eager to identify and bring to justice those offenders who were involved in the incident on September 1.

"Members of the travelling public, including law-abiding football fans, have the right to travel in safety and without fear of being assaulted or abused.

"We would appeal to anyone who may be able to identify the two men captured in the onboard CCTV to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40."
