Folkestone v Ramsgate

Folkestone come away with the ball against Faversham

There was late drama at both ends of the Ryman League Division 1 South table with Kent clubs experiencing mixed fortunes on Saturday.

Promotion-chasers Maidstone United and Folkestone Invicta suffered surprise home defeats to local rivals, with the Stones going down 3-1 against Faversham Town, who completed the double over United, while Invicta lost 3-2 against Ramsgate at the Buzzlines Stadium.

The pair lost ground on the top-three as Bognor Regis Town, Whitehawk and Dulwich Hamlet all won, but the Stones stayed fourth after allowing a 1-0 lead to slip away at Bourne Park.

Alex Flisher broke the deadlock on 52 minutes but former Stone Danny Hockton levelled and Nick Humphrey turned the game on its head on 63 minutes.

The clincher arrived from another ex-Maidstone player James Peacock, 16 minutes from time.

Invicta are still sixth after falling behind to a Bradley Dack goal for the Rams on 16 minutes.

James Everitt levelled before the break, but Joe Taylor made it 2-1 to the visitors soon after the interval, only for Stuart King's 19th goal of the season on 52 minutes to set-up a tense finale.

However with 10 minutes added on after an injury to the referee, the Rams snatched the win through Tom Chapman to move the Rams up to seventh and within nine points of Invicta.

Worthing remained fifth after Whitstable Town snatched a last-gasp 2-1 win in Sussex to end the Rebels unbeaten home record.

Dale Skelton put the Oystermen ahead on six minutes and keeper Dave King kept them ahead when he saved a Ryan McBride penalty on the hour.

However a second spot-kick on 80 minutes allowed Paul Kennett to equalise, only for Stuart Vahid to convert a Skelton corner in the dying seconds to seal the win.

The Whitstable win could not lift them out of the drop-zone as Burgess Hill and Whyteleafe also won, but took them within three points of Sittingbourne, who lost 5-1 at Crawley Down.

In their first game in a month, Bourne fell 2-0 down inside 18 minutes through Tom Burton and Jamie Cade, and though Anthony Hogg halves the deficit, Luke Blewden made it 3-1 on 25 minutes and Cade completed a hat-trick after the break.

Thamesmead Town came from behind to win 3-2 at Waltham Abbey to climb to 11th in Ryman League Division 1 North.

Abbey went ahead eight minutes before the break through Louis Bristow but a brace from Theo Fairweather-Johnson scored twice in the 11 minutes after the interval to turn it around.

Tim Shaw looked to have earned a point with an 87th-minute goal but Ashley Probets netted an injury-time penalty after David Noel was fouled in the box, to win it.

Chatham Town recorded their first win in five games thanks to Garry Tilley's 19th-minute goal at Heybridge Swifts.

Lee Hales spurned a chance to make it 2-0 when he missed a penalty on 23 minutes, but the Swifts could not find a reply as Chats climbed to 14th.

Cray's promotion chances in Ryman League Premier Division were hit by a 3-1 defeat at leaders Billericay Town on Saturday.

A brace from Courtney White and a third from Chris Wild put the hosts 3-0 up inside half-an-hour and despite Chris Saunders pulling on back on 35 minutes, the Essex side cruised home.

Wands remain in the final play-off place after slipping to fifth but are just a point clear of Bury Town who have a game in hand.

The Suffolk side closed the gap with a 3-2 win over Margate, who have now lost five straight.

The visitors went ahead through Lee Smith's header on seven minutes but Craig Cloke's penalty on the half-hour made it 1-1.

John Sands put Bury ahead before the break but Richard Avery replied soon after, only for Sands to grab the points with his second on 64 minutes as Gate slipped to 13th.
