The A2 has now reopened after a crash that left a woman seriously injured caused chaos today.

The Kent Air Ambulance was called just after 10am to a collision on the coastbound carriage at Dartford Heath.

Crash scene investigators scoured the scene for clues until past 4pm.

It is believed a vehicle collided with a lamppost.

Both carriageways were closed to let the air ambulance land before re-opening at 4.30pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "There is a backlog of traffic into London and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route.

"The London-bound carriageway is flowing freely but slow."
