GILLINGHAM chairman Paul Scally insists manager Ronnie Jepson will not be leaving the club.

Jepson was linked with the vacant Huddersfield managerial position last week but the Yorkshire club have been refused permission to talk with him.

Mr Scally discussed the issue with his Huddersfield counterpart Ken Davy on Friday night and made it clear that Jepson was staying put.

Mr Scally said: "Their chairman asked for permission to talk to our manager but he had a whole list of managers he wanted to talk to.

"On that basis and the basis that he wasn’t prepared to discuss any compensation should he (Jepson) go I told him he hadn’t got permission to talk and that was the end of the matter.

"I spoke to Ronnie. He’s absolutely delighted that he’s staying here."
