It led to the turn-off at the roundabout being shut by police.

It was also causing congestion back to the A226 Gravesend Road.

The crash involved a lorry and car, with the latter spotted on the grass verge with its front damaged.

Kent Police says the crash was first reported shortly after 8.30am.

A spokesman for the force said: “It was a collision involving a car and lorry on the Chatham-bound carriageway.

“Officers and ambulance crews attended, and the driver of the car was treated at the scene.

“His injuries are not believed to be serious.”
