Eight stores at Westwood Cross are taking part in a fund-raising event for the League of Friends of the QEQM hospital.

The charity is holding its annual fashion show at Margate Winter Gardens on Thursday. Participating stores will be donating clothes for volunteers to model on the catwalk.

Friends’ fund-raising committee member Clive Richardson, who is also manager of WH Smith at Westwood Cross, said: “Our major project is raising £12,000 to create a new discharge lounge, an area where patients wait to be collected on the day they go home.

“It can sometimes be a long wait for family members to pick them up and we want that time to be spent in pleasant surroundings.”

Tickets for the fashion show, where doors open at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start, are £16.50, including a two-course meal, and are available by calling Amanda on 01843 862225.
