Swanley man in court accused of robbing delivery driver

A suspect has appeared in court accused of robbing a delivery driver.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, alleged a man had assaulted her and then stolen her car in Hart Dyke Road, Swanley.

The incident happened at about 7.30pm on Tuesday.

Officers investigating the incident then attended Hockenden Lane, Orpington, where the vehicle had been involved in a collision a short while after it had been stolen.

Following a search of the area, with the assistance of Metropolitan Police patrols and a dog handler, a man was detained.

Alfie Rossiter, of Hart Dyke Crescent, Swanley, was later charged with robbery and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

The 52-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on March 17.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to call the appeal line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/30575/22.

They are also asking motorists with dashcam and residents with private CCTV to check for footage that may assist their investigation.
