Crash on A249 near Stockbury Valley in Sittingbourne causing delays

A crash involving two lorries on the A249 shut part of a carriageway for more than two hours.

Traffic was queueing due to an accident on the Sheppey-bound road at Stockbury Valley, Sittingbourne, near the South Green and Bicknor turn off.

It happened at around midday and the northbound carriageway has been blocked.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 11.30am to a collision involving two lorries on the Sheppey-bound carriageway of the A249 near Stockbury.

"Officers, fire crews and paramedics attended the scene where one man was treated for minor injuries.

"The carriageway was closed while arrangements were made to recover the vehicles and one lane reopened at midday."

The road was fully reopened at 2pm.
